Well documented, stunting growth in labor productivity observed in Quebec has been little studied from a regional perspective. Yet it is a fundamental aspect of the problem since the efforts to address the performance of Quebec must be oriented to target the needs of each region.

Based on Statistics Canada data, this report explores the evolution of productivity in the province from a regional perspective in order to understand the role of each of the 17 administrative regions in productivity growth in Quebec. By analyzing the productivity gains of labor provided by each region, this booklet provides insight into the mechanisms by which regions contribute to productivity growth in the province. Ultimately, we see that the contributions of some areas are far from representing their importance in the economy.
