Previous studies have shown that companies having adopted good logistical practices also display superior organizational performance. Yet, there are very few recent empirical studies reporting on the use of such good logistical practices by Quebec-based companies. We know, however, that the later tend to make less use of existing technologies that can support their logistical activities. This research paper summarizes the results of a survey of 30 senior managers with companies located in Quebec and representing a wide variety of sectors: manufacturing, distribution, retail, transportation and logistics services providers (3PL). In order to facilitate the understanding of supply chain and logistics strategies and practices adopted by Quebec-based companies, we propose a conceptual model that illustrates the logistical performance management process and its links with a company\u2019s business model. This conceptual framework identifies the following four action levers that managers can use to reach their goals, namely 1) network configuration 2) supply chain integration with information systems and using innovative organizational structures, 3) collaboration mechanisms, and 4) optimization of logistical processes. Each of these four action levers is described in details using real-life examples from our in-depth interviews and secondary sources of information.<\/p>\n
