At a time when Quebeckers are preparing to vote in municipal elections on November 5, the Centre for Productivity and Prosperity – Walter J. Somers Foundation (CPP) today released a study profiling the outgoing municipal administrations. The study, based on the municipal financial reports submitted to the Ministère des Affaires municipales et de l’Occupation du territoire (MAMOT), presents trends in the spending of each of the 1,100 municipalities in the province and offers clues as to why this spending has fluctuated since the last elections. The tool, offered as an app, can be consulted by residents wishing to know more about their municipality’s management.

“With this tool for democratization, we hope to enhance access to municipal financial information so as to equip Quebeckers to vote and allow them to quickly compare their municipality with others,” says CPP Director Robert Gagné.
